Top Business Schools in Australia and the Asia-Pacific Region

- QS Global MBA Rankings 2027: UNSW Business School (31st) was the top-ranked Australian school, and NUS Business School in Singapore (23rd) was the top-ranked school in Asia.
- FT Global MBA Ranking 2026: AGSM (the Australian Graduate School of Management) at UNSW Business School placed inside the top 50, and was the only Australian school in the ranking. In Asia, CEIBS placed eighth, HKUST joint 24th and NUS 29th.
- AFR BOSS Best Business Schools: The Australian Financial Review’s BOSS ranking is the only domestic ranking of Australian business schools. In the 2025 edition, Melbourne Business School took the top spot, ending UNSW’s run at number one.
- CEO Magazine Global MBA Rankings 2026: 11 Australian business schools received a Tier 1 ranking.
How Business School Rankings Work
Each ranking organisation uses its own method, so a school can rank very differently from one list to the next:
- QS Global MBA Rankings score schools on five areas: employability, return on investment, thought leadership, entrepreneurship and alumni outcomes, and diversity. Employability carries the most weight, at 40% of the overall score. To be included, schools must be accredited by AACSB, AMBA or EQUIS. In the 2027 edition, European schools took nine of the top 10 places for return on investment, while US schools led on employability.
- The FT Global MBA Ranking surveys alumni three years after they graduate. It gives particular weight to alumni salaries, alongside measures such as career progression, international mobility and faculty diversity. Schools must take part to be ranked, and some choose not to.
- AFR BOSS Best Business Schools ranks Australian business schools only, assessing teaching, research, reputation and career impact.
Rankings are a useful starting point, but they can’t tell you which school is right for you. Look at the indicators that matter most to your goals, and check how a school has performed over several years rather than in a single edition.

How to Choose the Right Business School for You
Prospective students can use the rankings alongside these questions to make informed decisions:
- What are your career goals? Think about the industry and region you want to work in after graduating. If you hope to work overseas, check the destination country’s visa and work rules on its official government website.
- Which format suits you? Full-time MBAs range from programs of around 10 months to traditional two-year programs. Part-time and online MBAs let you keep working while you study.
- What will it cost, and what is the likely return on investment? Add up tuition, living costs and the income you give up while studying. Our guide to whether an MBA is worth it explains how to weigh this up.
- Is the school accredited? AACSB, AMBA and EQUIS are the main international accreditations for business schools.
- What does the application process involve? Most leading programs ask for an admissions test (such as the GMAT or GRE), essays, interviews and professional experience.
- What is the student experience like? Look at class profiles, alumni networks and how the school supports international students.
